The Furka Pass links Gletsch in Valais with Realp in Uri over 2,429 metres — thirty kilometres of wide, beautifully surfaced Swiss mountain road above the Rhône glacier. It is known outside motorcycling as the Goldfinger chase road, and inside it as one of the few high passes where the tarmac quality matches the scenery.

Riding it
Furka rewards smoothness rather than bravery: long, well-sighted radius corners, consistent camber and a surface maintained well enough to trust. The Valais side climbs past the Belvédère hairpin above the Rhône glacier; the Uri side is faster and more open. Combined with Grimsel and Susten it makes the classic three-pass day out of Andermatt, which is why it fills up on summer weekends. It closes with the snow, typically from late October until early June.
